2012 Quinta do Vesuvio

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dark purple and opaque. Fresh cut dock leaves on the nose with some subdued fruit. Sweet blueberries wrapped around burly and powerful tannins on the palate. This has a big tannic backbone with rich and ripe fruit but is not as luscious as some or as the 2011 vintage. Licorice and fennel seed mix in with the blueberries on the fruity finish. Good port. 92-94/100. Tasted 05-Mar-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
