D+8h:
Full, woody body, some slight acidity; minimal fruit, though still full and dark.
Good, but not the best bottle of W77.
Rating: good+
D+24hr:
This was much improved, better integrated. Still full, woody but smoother, with hints of liquorice and sherbet. Still a slight burnt caramel edge on the aftertaste, perhaps indicating less than perfect storage, but overall now better than initially.
Rating: VeryGood-
At D+48 this was still in the better place; I will be giving any further bottles from this batch a long decant.
