Brick red in colour with a wide rim and a centre that is just opaque. Stewed fruit on the nose, smelling of baked New York cheesecake and rhubarb - but not unpleasant. The stewed bottle stink aromas fade after about 30 minutes in the glass. On the palate this delivers sweet golden sultanas and red cherry juice that has a lovely balance. The tannins are well integrated, dry and tight grained but there is also a hint of higher alcohols. There is some heat on the aftertaste that lasts a while before giving way to a delicious blackcurrant skin and sweetened whitecurrant finish of amazingly long duration. This is very impressive but still some years from peaking. 93/100. Drunk 23-Apr-15.
