Deep brick-red in colour, 70% opaque. VA and nail varnish on the nose. Unbalanced entry, full of VA. Dry edge to the fruit with lots of higher alcohol but also some tannins still on the palate. Not in good shape. NR.

D45 (Christie’s London, 21st February 2005, a mixed lot), being my rather-rubbish contribution. Nose bacterial. Palate: “Fruit. Life. Light. Short. Maybe not life.”

† Also in that lot was a Cockburn 1927 that arrived broken. And Taylor 1912 and Niepoort 1963.
