A theme suggested by Flash: the ‘Sweet-Spot Vintages’, being 1966, 1970, and 1977, in each of Dow, Graham, Taylor, and Warre. So on Wednesday 17th June 2015 we gathered at Davy’s Woolgate.

W66 (originally ‘III’). Lovely red, a hint of brick, 40% opaque/ Palate very dry. Hint of heat. An hour in the glass pulled this together excellently — very delicious. Even later, I found strawberry.

A lovely colour - deep red, mature tone but not yet bricking. 80% opaque. Soft on the nose, showing a little harsh fruit. Balanced on the palate with a nice sweetness and an enjoyable figginess to the flavours. A lovely concentration and a great depth of flavour. Delicious aftertaste with a wonderful finish. This is a great bottle. Guessed to be Graham 1970. 93/100.
