A belated reply to Julian's inquiry--yes, let's each bring a box of glasses.

Jeff, have we dropped Eric's Graham?

I also thought that the Graham’s was replacing the Ferreira.

Sorry for long delay between posts, been busy with job/wife/construction/etc :D

I am looking foward to the dinner. If space becomes an issue and if someone else needs my spto, I would be willing to give it up, otherwise you guys (and girls) are stuck with me.
See you next Sat.

Do I gather correctly that we have two adoptions? If so, have they been worked out?

Err, the Saturday after next. The last Saturday in March.

We have one more bottle than the seven paying people, so adoptions would leave somebody a parent of two. Splitting therefore seems fairer, though more work in that costs need to be assigned. (How do we choose a cost for, say, Cachão 1977?) But nor do I object to splitting my three with Anthony; differentdave adopting from Jay; and that’s that. And less work. So let’s do that.

Julian, as ever, is the voice of reason. His proposal sounds fine with me. In my case, the Delaforce would be up for adoption.

Julian is our resident grammar / relativity policeman - take a look at the thread in "Meaningless Drivel" called "Apostrophe Crimes". To date he has managed to restrain himself to only commenting on our misuse of that fine but much maligned symbol but I'm sure that his self restraint will fail one day.

1977 horizontal: decanting times?

Post by jdaw1 »

We need to think about decanting times.

Bottles: Should we all aim for 2pm or thereabouts?

Yeah, well unfortunately I can't in good conscience get out of it and so I'm not going to be able to make the tasting this saturday. I apologize for the late notice, and I hope to see everyone at a future offline.

I am trying to find last-minute replacements.

Jay: I can’t get any more 1977s delivered without an intervening weekend. If replacement people need a ’77, would you be willing to supply and have them pay you $?

Julian, 2 pm sounds fine for decanting.

I am a bit puzzled about your other post. I could supply another 1977 but do we need one as we have already lost one of our number?

Perhaps Julian really wants to drink 2 bottles per person?

we have 6 people and 7 bottles of port.

so we could have a replacement and still have a bottle each.

29th March: bottle and people count

Post by jdaw1 »

JES is out. His SW77 is out. Status quo is reasonable well balanced.

If extra person(s) were in, then they would need to bring something. In that case perhaps Jay could have done so for them.

But they’ve refused, so it doesn’t matter.

I'm really sorry I'm missing this, too. I've been telling friends about it for two months and would much rather be drinking with you guys than the alternative event.

Two bottles for Julian? At the very least, I would think.
