From Victoria: The Queen, Julia Baird: “Queen Victoria was born, roaring, at 4:15 ᴀ.ᴍ., in the hour before dawn on May 24, 1819”.

The time convenient to us that is closest to the two hundredth anniversary of that would be the evening of Thursday 23rd May 2019.

Our theme could be Victorian Port, or even Victorian Portuguese wine, but either theme might be a struggle for some. So perhaps “Port fit for a Queen”, again. Or suggest other themes.

First post updated.

Theme? It could be merged with a theme already wanted — horizontal, vertical, other. Or not.

I’m going to assume that currently-on-holiday THRA wants to attend.

One possible theme could be the Messias Quinta do Cachão vertical, which needs a new date. (If that, its list of attendees will have precedence over these.)

Can I please go on the list for this tasting.
Seperately for such an important event , I think a theme of British shippers is more appropriate.

Given the heritage and natural language of the monarch involved, perhaps we should allow a smattering of Germanic-shipper relatives to join the party?

Yes please.

Perhaps a theme which can be interpreted by the bringer of a bottle. "Port linked in some way with Victoria".
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Can I also go on the list please.

Theme. Anything fortified from Victoria Wine? Could be interesting, but perhaps not in a good way.

Some of my Port still has the Victoria Wine price stickers on, and we're talking decent Port like Dow 1970.

Bumped, to remind attendees that this will happen.

“Port Fit for a Queen”, again? Meaning a fine drop of something.

This will not be Quinta do Cachão, so I’m democratically declaring it to be “Port fit for a Queen”.
