Not, I suspect, an original thought; nor, in the context, should I be quite as surprised by this as I was; but I have been struck, in my unsuccessful hunting, by quite how few VPs there are from the war years, other than 1945 itself. Colheitas and garrafeiras, yes; but not VPs. No VP in 1939 or 1940; just the Constantino in 1941; Fonseca Guimaeraens, Graham, Hooper, Niepoort, Noval, Rebello Valente in 1942; and just Sandeman in 1943 and 1944.

...point well made. Further researches on VWAP also suggest Dow, Diez Hermanos, Taylor, Feuerheerd made 1942s...

Sorry to mess everyone around, but have just realised that my wife is doing jury service on the 14th, so I now can’t do this or 21st.

Currently checking room availability & will update shortly.

Cheers
Neil

Good for me! [By which I mean, I am available on the 28th September and the Dow 1950 is sitting in my London wine 'fridge waiting for the occasion.]

Alas I don’t have a suitable bottle, and am unlikely to find one within a wife-allowed budget. Enjoy, but without me.

Done.

If promoted from reserve (which is reasonably likely) might you have an alternative bottle? We've already got a Ferreira 45, and whilst a comparison would be interesting suspect the general preference would be for greater variety. If not, don't worry.

Am at 67 on Wednesday and going to investigate the maximum number they'll let us have. Hopefully we can do 9 or 10.
Sorry - should have read the first post more carefully.
one of S45 or Borges45 as have not tasted these in the last few years. Also have some others

Given a choice then S45, as would be interesting to taste alongside the S42.

Are you available for the new date?

Neil

Unless told otherwise that we can't do this I'm proceeding.
We have the Lutyen's Room at 67 which will spaciously take eight, so at present that's the limit.

Neil, I would appreciate guidance. We are into ages of port about which I have almost no experience. Do you want the ports to be delivered to 67 PM in advance to rest? I suspect they won't need much decant time, but also fear that double-decanting and then travelling might be a bit brutal for them.

Good point.

I'm unlikely to be in London the week before, so will probably have to drop my bottles off midday-ish on the day. I'll ask them to decant a couple of hours beforehand.

However, if anybody wants to drop bottles off in advance then please do so, but let me know so I can ensure 67 are ready to accept.

Tony - yes, you’ve got a space. Will assume you’re bringing S45 unless informed otherwise.
