Your place has always made for fun tastings, and its generous of you to offer. :)

Any comments on where we might want to hold this tasting?

Shall I arrange a reservation at a steakhouse?

Wife + newborn child excludes chez moi. Other than that constraint, I’m generally amenable to whatever others favour. Chez Jeff? Steak house? Either.

Is child now a reality or still in the "expected" phase of development?

We don't have a clear preference. We'll be staying somewhere midtown Manhattan, but I don't mind a touristic detour to Queens at all. :)
But if a restaurant is more convenient for others, that's perfect for us as well.

Or you could say, Julian and five other people.

If this were some other night than either April 17 or 18, such as April 19, I would be happy to join and drink what little Julian leaves.

Slanderous! I wont leave any.

Any night in the neighbourhood of the 18th works for me, though not the following weekend.

Please count me in. Does anyone want to put up for adoption OR are we pooling it like a few of the previous ones?

OK, so I wanted to try to work out the prices...
Starting with Julian's Forced Buyer #s (assuming his higher price for the Taylor48) and adding in $80 for Taylor85 I come out with a total of $1801. (Julian FYI: WS total would have been $2360).

$1801, divided up amongst people:
7: $257
8: $225
9: $200
10: $180 (Venue max capacity)

That seems reasonable given the glory of this tasting :) So let's get busy trying to fill a few more of the seats.
(EDIT: Seat totals updated)

Technically, this is after your birthday... but if you want to have two birthdays this year, thereby getting two years older, I'm sure we can find the right candles ;)

G-Man, would you like me to bring a dish or some chocolates on the 18th? I have access to variations through the culinary/wine school where I teach. I might also be able to bring some walnuts, hazelnuts, etc. Let me know.

Okay, so has the location been decided at my place out in queens?

I'll send out a pm of my address as we get closer to the date.

It's only about 30 minutes from mid town.

There's a huge selection of ethnic russian food around my area. Fantastic kebabs and we could order in.

Or we can pick up a big chunk of some meat and roast it.

G-Man-
Since we are having port, roasted red meats would work best. Of course, do whichever works best for your space. I will bring in some chocolate pieces (not pastries but pieces of chocolate) and perhaps some walnuts, maybe hazelnuts too.

Actually, i'd like to put in an order for chicken gizzard....

Err, seriously tho -- ordering is fine, and if you'd like us to bring some food with us, I'm happy to cook or prep in advance for quick-cook.
