I like Asimov's visibility, but if he declines a few other names would be good :)

I've created a poll for this, let's try to get it resolved quickly so that -- if we go ahead -- a timely invite can be sent.

Got a reply -- he can't make it but is interested in what we do. Perhaps it'll work out for some future tasting.

Decant times! What would folks like for the 80 and 83? Last time I gave the 83 seven hours and that seemed about right. I couldn't find any clear advice on Grahams 80.

I'd just open them newest to oldest, completing one bottle at time (decant-rinse-pour back) and leave at it at that.

That works if all the bottles are in one place, that can work well. But different people have different bottles.

Due to my schedule, all of my bottles will have to be decanted between 9 and 11 am on Friday.

We never confirmed payment arrangements. I assume that folks will look at what Josh posted and bring along enough cash to settle up before the tasting begins.

Julian, please confirm that you are bringing one box of glasses.

The sensible thing would be to appoint a "banker," one person to collect all the cash for both the port and dinner (amount will be posted shortly). That person can then dispense the money. Josh, can I volunteer you?

Dinner is $20.00 per person and is scheduled to arrive at 9 pm. The tasting starts at 7 pm. Send me a pm if you need the address.

actually, i'd like it if someone else did the banker role. I'm bad at asking for money, and it would be fairer if someone who wasn't bringing bottles 2x checked the calculations and did the collecting.

Jeff or Julian, can one of you act as the banker? As the host, I don't want to be distracted from my duties. If neither one of you can act as the banker, then I will.

this banker charges the industry standard 20% (of a bottle) as a fee.

ummm how does the money collection work anyway? Is one person getting everything?

Doing placemats and accounts, and, having been away, want to check that things are correctly understood.

People:
  1. Jay;
  2. Julian;
  3. Josh;
  4. John;
  5. Moses;
  6. Moses’ +1 = Elys Cintron;
  7. Anthony;
  8. Jeff;
  9. Steph.
I: Please confirm that this is correct and complete.

Vintages:
  • 1960, Jay, $230;
  • 1963, Jay, $260;
  • 1966, Jay, $192;
  • 1970, Julian, $150;
  • 1977, Jay, $110;
  • 1980, Josh, $90;
  • 1983, Josh, $75
  • 1985, Julian, $90;
  • 1991, Jay, $70;
  • 1994, Julian, $80.
II: Please confirm that this is correct and complete.

Credits:
  • Jay, $230+$260+$192+$110+$70 = $862;
  • Julian, $150+$90+$80 = $320;
  • Josh, $90+$75=$165.
III: Please confirm that this is correct and complete.

Julian, thank for taking on these duties. I suppose we can now ask you to appear before a legislative committee to lambaste you.

As to the figures for the port, they appear correct for me. Just add in dinner ($180.00), which I have already paid for (and will pay the delivery tip), and the total comes to $1042.00 for me.

I get $170.00 per person after adding everything together and dividing by nine.

Any objection to 10 hours decanting for the G94, and 6 hours for each of the G85 and G70?

Hate to miss out on some of the freshness on the '70, but oh well... No objection from me...

No objection the '94 either; that is the only one Elys and I have not had in the line up tonight.

Lol - i think I've had a whole two of these (83 & 85). I'm cleaning up so I can do the garrotte decant video :)
I'll open them at 12pm so that they are closer in decant time to the 85 (and cause I'll have to put them back in the bottle after 4.5 in order to ensure I make it in on time).
