Virtual headwetting ”” 8th March 2009
Virtual headwetting ”” 8th March 2009
As has been heralded elsewhere (e.g., e.g.), all being well, my re-enfatherment may well happen soon (perhaps requiring a suitably extended definition of ‘soon’). A virtual headwetting, in the form of multiple people enjoying a bottle of port, will therefore be appropriate.
Rules
1. First, the child must be decanted. This will be announced in this thread.
2. Second, participants are to open and decant a bottle of fine port. The port, being ‟fine”, is therefore non-1975 vintage or a good colheita or a garrafeira.
3. Third, there is no rule three.
4. Fourth, drink said port, toasting the child, whose sex and name will also be announced here.
(Doffs hat to Ben Read, whose idea this was.)

I have just realised that this was ambiguous. But if you don’t know which meaning was intended, then you are a fool.jdaw1 wrote:toasting the child

Julian,
I am sure it will be a pleasure to find and toast with a suitable Port for the post-uncorking of your 2nd child.
Wishing your wife a speedy and unharrassed birthing and the safe and healthy delivery of your child!
Bring along a fine bottle of bubbly and a pair of stems to celebrate the occasion with your wife, as you can always open a great bottle of Port at home. Then again you might just choose a Port because your wife loves it to.
Best of luck to you both!

S'alright, I know exactly what you mean. It would be daft to try and fit a child in a pop-up toaster - under the grill it is.jdaw1 wrote:I have just realised that this was ambiguous. But if you don’t know which meaning was intended, then you are a fool.jdaw1 wrote:toasting the child
Port is basically a red drink

Julian,
I am very excited about more news to come. I wish you and your wife "Hals- und Beinbruch" for the birth-event.
One of my next death row volunteers is a Fonseca 83, which will be specially opened and toasted with to your second child.
All the best
Axel

News: we will be leaving for the birthing centre as soon as the babysitter arrives. Thus a BBR Warre 1963 might soon be sampled in the Wiseman household.

Julian,
What fabulous news! I hope all goes well today for your wife, and for you of course. A 1977 Warre has just been decanted and is waiting in the wings.
Best of luck,
John
