First post!

Hi Jacob and Co. -- I would like to attend this tasting, if there is still space.

As a word of introduction, I was born and rasied in Manhattan (with a few stints in London to build character). I've been living over here most recently for the last 9 months or so, stationed out of Notting Hill. I was supposed to stop buying wine once I moved over here...but the port is just so cheap relative to the US!

I've been interested in wine for about 3 years (I am 25), with a particular focus on bordeaux, champagne, and port.

I am reasonably active on a variety of boards, including Wine-pages, wineberserkers, FTLOP and ebob.

I am always open for offlines, and look forward to popping some corks with you all sometime soon.

Hi, Chris, welcome to :tpf:. There certainly is space for you; I’ll put you down and contact you via. PM to give some further details.

No doubt attendance at a few :tpf: tastings will help you get over your claret and champagne problem ;-).

Thanks, Killer.

Sounds like it'll be a wonderful tasting.

What kind of stems do people generally bring to port OLs?

It’s because you don’t come down to London for tastings enough

Glasses - depends on the venue. We all have a stock of ISO glasses and will bring along some for the evening or rely on the venue.

I has been drawn to my attention that there was a mistake in the first post in this thread. To confirm, the tasting will take place on Monday, 22nd March, 2010, not Tuesday, 22nd March (which does not exist this year). Apologies for any confusion caused.

Will anybody except Andy need rooms at the RAF Club (about 70 GBP). Need answer asap as they are tight on space.

I'm going to stay overnight at the New Cavendish, so if anyone is left without a room at the RAF Club then let me know.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I believe all participants have now been contacted by email or PM to confirm the arrangements for the evening. If you could transfer any monies due to me as soon as possible, I would be grateful as most of it will need to be transferred on to others before the tasting.

If there are any problems, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I forgot to ask for permission for this, and for reasons that are entirely sensible and lightly embarrassing I’m not allowed.

My GM90 is in  it’s with AHB. Consider it a token of apology. If my sudden absence incurs costs for the team please let me know.

Placemats I’ll do anyway.

Julian, say it ain't so! I was looking forward to sharing some Port with you and I'm flying some 5,000+ miles, 10 1/2 hours, and I have to deal with the TSA and UK Customs to do so. Doesn't that at least earn you some favorable points so you can come?

Have you considered telling SCP-DFF that she is being entirely unreasonable and that her behaviour is unacceptable and an infringement of your basic human rights?

In the unlikely event that the above doesn't make SCP-DFF see sense, do you want us to come to Paris in a white van and kindnap you on 21st March?

Thank you, most kind, and ‟kindnap” is an excellent word.

But it really is my fault. I should have known. It would cost me a year of permissions not to attend the other matter. I am very embarrassed, and will pay for such costs as I have caused to be incurred. Sorry team.
