Alas I was unable to take a tasting note of this port.

A touch darker than the 1996 and with a touch more complexity and interest. Malvedos is probably the first SQVP where I think the 1998 is likely to be better than the 1996.

extremly dense body, long, but at the moment a little bit closed, but I think this will be a very good port in some time.

1998 Graham’s Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port

Postby Andy Velebil » 04:13 Fri 30 Jul 2010

1998 Graham’s Malvedos Vintage Port:
Deeply extracted and like the 1996 the nose wasn’t willing to give up much. Big full fruit immediately charge in while the dusty tannins following close behind. While the fruit is also still tight this had an incredibly long finish. Compared to 1996 with its high production, 1998 had the lowest yields ever at only .6 kg per vine! 92 Points
