1995 Graham Malvedos

Post by DRT »

1995 Graham's Malvedos (half bottle #2)
Tasted as part of a vertical of 24 Graham's and Graham's Malvedos vintages at The RAF Club, Piccadilly, London, on 22nd March 2010.

The links: *Please note that the 2008 Cask Sample was donated to this tasting by the Symington family before the final blend was complete so this may not accurately represent what the 2008 Graham's or Graham's Malvedos will be, should either of these be approved and declared later in 2010.

With the half-bottles #1 is from Paul Symington's side of the table and #2 is from Richard Maysons'.

I managed not to take much more of a not than "thankfully undamaged".

From ½ bottle. Warm red colour, deep rose coloured and transparent centre. Cigar ash on the nose over a core of stewed fruit. Sweet and smooth entry before the tannins grap hold over the stewed red fruit. Long aftertaste, dominated by fruit with a faint hint of coffee. A decent wine, but of a standard below most other vintages. Perhaps in a difficult phase. 84/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
