Does anyone think that 27 is not quite enough?

Me. We had 30 something bottles at the Malvedos tasting IIRC. :)

Anyone else care to make a very generous donation of a regular Fonseca?

I think this is a fantastic line-up and, not being the type to leave port go to waste, am already quite daunted by the volume!

Others who have done these large tastings before will have a better feel than I, but is it really possible to add too many more bottles without compromising enjoyment of what is already there?

That said-

The funny thing is, I'd normally tend to agree with you. That is, until the Malvedos tasting where some 30+ bottles were opened and scarcely a drop was left at the end. So to answer your question, No!

And what is this about refusing a F66????

Have the authorities yet ruled on the ’66? And have the authorities ruled wisely?

Assuming the two attendees who have yet to pay their contribution do so, we have precisely £7 remaining in the team fund. Does anyone have a time machine so that we can return to 1968 and purchase an F66?

Precisely! A whole number of pounds! Nice coincidence, that one would expect to happen about one time in a hundred.

It would seem a terrible waste of a time machine to purchase only one bottle.

Drastic times called for drastic measures, and i took the liberty of putting the £7 on Oxford to win by a margin of 2&1/2 lengths or more at 5/2.

Doesn't get us to a F66, but might at least buy us each a half pint of Timothy Taylor from the pub around the corner beforehand...

I put the £7 on Scotland to beat Brazil by 6 goals at 25,000/1 - I can't bear to look at the result so please can someone confirm that I am now able to complete the line-up and transfer the venue to The Yeatman Hotel?

As I notice it is missing, I could happily add a 00'F to the mix if it would be a welcome addition.

Updated draft of placemats.
  • +1966;
  • +2000.
  • Please check carefully.
That means we have thirty-five vintage ports, making this the largest-equal :tpf: tasting.

Edit: counting error, much regretted. Only twenty-nine, so falling far short of noteworthy.

Thank you to the very kind chap who donated the 1966. A splendid fellow if ever I met one
