Looking through my cellar it turns out I have some more LBVs from the 90s but most are in halves. If RAYC is bringing the Smith Woodhouse 1995, would it be acceptable if I bring a 1999 Warre and CHR brings a 2004 Quinta do Infantado to increase the number of younger LBVs?

While placemats would be very welcome, full details will be difficult. Perhaps spaces for glasses denoted by people rather than by wines? The people are listed in this post on this thread.

Thanks.
Or we could road-test these?

Receipt not yet acknowledged, so a placemat backup advisable.

Receipt hereby acknowledged. It could perhaps have been acknowledged sooner. Sorry.

My preference would be to stick to LBVs which are at least 10 years from the vintage, so that we can gain an idea of the way in which these wines mature with extra bottle age. I would prefer to try and stick to LBV that is from the 1999 harvest or earlier, if that's possible.

I'm very happy with a Warre 1999 but would prefer something older than the 2004 Infantado, if that's possible - even if in half bottle.

Placemats look simple, straightforward and perfect. Thank you.

I'm not aware of Giles having any other initials, nor am I aware of anyone being left-handed.

There are some references to people requiring to adopt. I am bringing two bottles, one of which can be adopted if required. Please email me if you need to adopt it as I might not be back on TPF this week.

Forgot to ask: do people have a strong preference between bridge order (♣, ♦, ♥, â™ ) and Yogi’s Whist order (♦, â™ , ♥, ♣)?

No problems; will dig out a couple of halves rather than the Infantado.

Also, CHR would like to bring a +1 who was supposed to come to the ‟are we wasting our money?” tasting, if that’s ok with everyone. (Julian: Eliza, EE). I think she is sorting out a bottle herself having had the theme passed on to her...

EE added to the list of confirmed attendees. I will check with Giles whether he is able to confirm or not.

My preference is ♥, ♣, ♦, ♠ but this is not a strong preference.

Updated draft of the placemats.
  • +Known Port names.
  • +EE, with obvious question.
  • Twelve fit conveniently on two sheets, so we now have only three blanks. Three suits would be wrong; instead it’s ” , â—Š, •.
  • Please check carefully.

You can guess where that has been quoted.

Later today placemats will revert to suits in mystery order (♥, ♣, ♦, ♠).

JDAW - With the absence of SAW, my bottle has reverted back to being a Taylor 1967.

Jacob - if you are happy and able to print, that would be most appreciated.

All - I will be arriving around 7:30pm. See you then!

Please add my Taylor 1965 LBV to the placemats.

I am also bringing a Niepoort 1975 LBV because I have it with me in London. As no one has taken up the offer to adopt it it is now available for group adoption if there is a general feeling of thirstiness or it can return home with me intact and wait for another day.

What time is everyone arriving? I will be free from around 5:30 :)

Sorry for the late notice, but rather than bringing a pair of halves for CHR, should I adopt the Niepoort ’75 for her?

Julian, could I be changed to a Warre 1999 LBV?

Happy to print. Will probably make it to the Crusting Pipe c.1840.
