Dear all,

with great help from Messias Port I am putting together a tasting in Leverkusen, Germany on October 28th at the Bayer-Kasino.

The following Ports will be tasted there:

Colheita vs Vintage
1947 1960
1963 1963
1965 1965
1966 1966
1967 1967
1968 1970
1977 1977
1980 1980
1982 1982
1985 1985
1990 1989
1995 1997

The participation fee is 225 EUR and includes all ports, water and a 3-dish-menue. I am trying to get someone from the company there as well.

The Bayer Kasino is perfectly located between Duesseldorf and Cologne, so both airports will be suitable. Sleepover can be arranged directely with the Bayer Kasino (http://bayer-gastronomie.de/download/pr ... kasino.pdf), however as a Port-tasting-participant you willl receive special arrangements. Please note this when doing a reservation.

Tasting will be limited to 14 persons as usual.

OK, so which of the vintages are Messias, and which are Messias Quinta do Cachão? When were the colheitas bottled? And, perhaps to be sent privately, who has already committed to attending?

I’m thinking four pages, each of six glasses, with the colheitas on one side, the vintages on the other (have you a preference as to which is on which side?), with horizontal lines separating the pairs. There will be a formatting difference between the colheitas and the vintages, and a lesser difference between the Messias and the Cachão.

So far, attendance is quite low, but it is low-port-season, I assume. Will provide info asap.

This tasting has gone quiet. Is it still going to happen? I know that I haven’t received any bottle photographs.

No, due to a late unavailability of the Bayer Kasino it will be repeated in 2012.

However, photographs of labels would still be welcomed.
