I didn't realise that BA flew to Oporto at all! I don't know when their flights restarted, but Heathrow Terminal 5 is so much easier for me than Gatwick with TAP. Wish I'd known earlier.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.
2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
If PhilW and jdaw1 could either confirm or withdraw, I would appreciate it.
I'll be at TBH on Tuesday night regardless, as our plans are pretty well fixed at this point in time. We already have a quorum with myself, idj123, flash_uk, AW77, and djewesbury hopeful, so anyone else at this point would simply be a bonus.
Could someone more local to TBH than Seattle make appropriate arrangements with TBH for a room, etc? Those attending should probably start thinking about a theme if we want one other than "bring a bottle to share with some guy from Seattle."
Tomorrow I will phone the Bung Hole to book. But as I will be out of the country on Tuesday 23rd September 2014, I should give somebody else’s contact details. Whose? Please volunteer. Or, even better volunteer to book it yourself, and then do so by calling +44 20 7831 8365 and saying that it is for a Port tasting. Ask for the ‘Function Room’. They know us.

This is Week 1 of the Autumn Semester. I'm teaching a new module next semester and don't have an idea of the timetable yet.. Hence my inclusion being dependent on that. Nothing would please me more, however, than lunch with you on the 24th somewhere appropriately congenial!

Thank's. I know you're a good sport.
How about Rules Restaurant? Last time I went there (in 2012) they served Taylor's Vargellas by the glass.

THIS IS AMAZING! I was going to include a link to Rules in my last message and thought I wouldn't bother as I wasn't sure about being able to go..
Yes, Rules on the 24th.
You are a mindreader.

I'm not a mind-reader, I simply know what's good.

Owen would be able to tell us the Peter Wimsey novel that mentions Rules - Whose Body? Strong Poison? I can't actually remember. But I think he takes Harriet Vane there so I think it must be Strong Poison.
EDIT: Yes, Strong Poison, but not Harriet Vane, but Miss Murchison, his accomplice from the Typing School and secret lady-detective agency run by his friend Miss Climpson.

I'll take care of it, and will book this afternoon.

12 o'clock lunch, if hoping for arrival at Stansted in time for a 4.30 flight would suggest to me that you should check the train times and work backwards to see how much time you actually have..
