I have just called to ask whether the date of refurbishment is yet known — no it isn’t — or, failing that, whether it is yet known when the date of refurbishment will be known — no, that meta-knowledge is not yet knowledge.

Now we know that you know that they don't know, nor know when they will know. Thank you; we shall hope to know more soon.

I just noticed that I had failed to respond to this. I have no QH11 on hand, but will check Trader Joe's and report back.

It hardly seems a fair trade, though, as QH11 was last available for $40/bottle and G83 is generally north of $80. Perhaps 2 QH11? I know the supply is short in the UK.

Alas, the supply is apparently also short in Washington. Luckily, though, I have now secured the last QH11 available in Sammamish, Issaquah, or Redmond. :D

I would like to attend but cannot confirm yet since the supervision of the roof renovation of my mothers house in Germany may need attention. Please put me down as a possible to confirm early August.

Happened by the B&F with my wife last night (she gave it her seal of approval !) Chap reiterated that he still hasn't been told when the kitchen upgrade was likely to take place nor how long it would take for that matter (he had thought one week but the builders had suggested two to three weeks). He was obviously getting increasingly irritated by this as he's taken a number of bookings in August.

On Friday 14th August 2015 the Boot and Flogger will be open, but will not have a kitchen. At Tuesday’s tasting we discussed this with Domhnaill, the on-duty manager. He suggested that he could make a cold menu for us, but hot just wouldn’t happen.
Today, by email, Domhnaill wrote:Thank you for last Tuesday, you all seemed to have a really good evening.

Following our conversation about your booking with us on August 14th I have drawn up a menu of cold foods which I think will satisfy you and your American guest. I will of course understand if he and you all would rather go somewhere that you can get a cooked meal, however please let me know and I will make the necessary arrangements. The menu I propose is attached here, if you have any comments then please let me know.

I hope to see you in a few weeks.

Kind Regards

Domhnaill

Bit torn about this-it would be good for Glenn to experience the ambiance of the B&F but I can perfectly understand it if after a long flight, a hot meal is preferable (in which case we can decamp to Woolgate). That said, the cold foods on offer (and price) seems decent and I'm sure that they'll ensure there is plenty to go around but as JDAW says this should be with Glenn to decide.

Kari and I discussed it this morning. While I would love to get the chance to visit TPF's latest default venue, I think hot food will be important after an international flight. Further bolstering my decision, Woolgate is walking distance from our hotel that night and so somewhat more convenient after the event.

Please thank the Boot & Flogger for the offer. Hopefully I will get to visit them with TPF in the future.

B&F informed. Who has best relationship with Woolgate?

I believe that Phil and Mike have booked in the past but of course they're not attending...

I've made arrangements with Simon, Clare and Karl previously, who are all very helpful; Simon has been primary contact for organising events.

I have spoken to Alex at Woolgate, and reserved The Boardroom from 16:30 on Friday 14th August 2015.

Note to self: The Brasserie, Davy’s at Woolgate (25 Basinghall Street, London, EC2V 5HA, tel +44 20 7600 5216, streetmap.co.uk, maps.google.co.uk, bing.com).

You would find the boardroom a mite cramped for 9 I would say. See here for the pictures from Glenn's last visit.

Draft food order, selections being taken from the Davy’s Woolgate food menu for August 2015.

Not at all. There are plenty of alternatives. Should I contact Ian Wright at Bangers and see what he could do for us? I certainly don't want to be cramped and agree that 9 of us in the Boardroom would be somewhat squished in.

And I do strongly want to have hot food if Mrs B is attending.

No objection from me. An initial enquiry can’t hurt — Woolgate could be cancelled if there’s less cramped elsewhere. But if that is to happen it would be more courteous for it to happen soon.

I don't know where Bangers is, but if it's within taxi range of Woolgate (which is near our hotel) then it's fine with me. I trust the locals with picking a suitable venue.

But yes, hot food please.

I think Bangers (or is it Banger's?) is at Canary Wharf and is in easy reach from where you are on the Docklands Light Railway from Bank station.

Ah. So Ian has moved again?

Moorgate is much closer to Glenn's hotel.

Most excellent, thank you.

It appears that Bangers is even more convenient to our hotel than Davy's at Woolgate.
