Mon 20 Feb 2017 - Hawksmoor Air Street Monday Wine Club

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Three of us happened to be in the right place at the right time to take advantage of Hawksmoor's Monday Night Wine Club where you are charged £5 corkage for any bottle of any size. We had a lovely, deep Pommery Cuvée Louise 2002 Champage as an aperitif, a magnificent deep and powerful Gruaud Larose 1949 to accompany a perfectly cooked Porterhouse steak that was the ideal size to share between three, and then rounded the evening off with a bottle of Burne Turner 1904 vintage port.

A splendid evening with the food and staff being excellent. At £85 a head it is certainly more expensive than Davy's but made a very good alternative for a one off catch up.

Thanks to my two companions for the excellent company at short notice. Staying overnight in London could otherwise have been quite dull.

I had a teenie-weenie lamb steak with mushrooms and green stuff and a glass of whisky at home. It sounds like we had similar nights
