As part of the plan to drink JDAW’s US-located port, a tasting of Taylor, Fonseca, Warre was held on Saturday 18th April 2009 at Petite Abeille, 401 East 20th Street at First Avenue, NY 10010-7501.

Links:This thread hold comments pertaining to the evening as a whole.

The bottle pictures seem to be, at least mostly, out of focus. It could be that an old camera has developed an error. It could be that its old operator no, let’s just assume not that one. It’s a problem with the camera, surely.

Based on the pictures and personal experience, I suspect you were closer than the minimum focal distance of the lens.

Fixed in the obvious way asking the camera-compatible missus to retake pictures.

So, is the excitement building yet? I wonder what I should open to have to offer you a toast?

Will you have a webcam?

Mine is well up there.

The obvious choice is Fonseca 1948 or Warre 1948. Or both.

Decanting times have been added to the first post of this thread, as well as to the individual TNs.

A fine night with great company.

I think fonseca stole the show tonight with my first being a F66 then followed closely by a F70, then by a tie between F85 and W66.

Thanks goes out to Julian for arranging the evening and Josh for keeping me from making a total fool of myself in front of the police officer

Thanks for a great evening guys! LadyR and I enjoyed it a lot, and LadyR even made it back to the hotel without falling asleep on the street. :)

Tasting notes will follow later after we get back to hot and sunny Muscat.

I'd forgotten the Rootses were over there. Was just checking the updates on this thread to see a face smiling out at me and thinking "My God, that's just like Lady R, I must tell her she's got a doppelganger, hell, so has Ronnie" - then I remembered

Looks like a great evening.

A very nice night, at an establishment that is likely to be reused. My favorites of the night were Fonseca 66 and Fonseca 70, and Taylor 66, in that order. Taylor 48 was very good, and quite interesting. I also went home with all the empties (and some not-so-empties -- what DOES one do with an off bottle of W85? I'm attempting to drink it chilled, but the moment it warms the cheese and rotting straw appears), so here's a lineup photo:
