There were some rough edges due to acidity and the funny shapped bt slighty leaking. Overall the Warre 1986 Colheita bt in 2007 was the best wine all round but lacked a bit complexity.

This was indeed a very good evening, with an eclectic mix of bottles on offer and fantastic company.

Though it did strike me, as i woke up this morning with clear memory of getting home and without crumpled suit plus kebab wrapper strewn on the floor, that my port consumption must have been significantly lower than normal and therefore, by extrapolation, that tawny/colheita does not do it for me in quite the same way as VP.

We did, however, learn one piece of worrying news at the end of the evening - a new menu will be in operation from next week at TCP which has no place for the treacle tart on the dessert list....(nor for DRT's scallop starter).

Results for WOTN were

1st - 8pts: 1934 Dalva House Reserve (colheita, bottled 1973)
2nd - 7pts: Barão de Vilar 20yr Tawny
3rd - 6pts: 1986 Warre Colheita
4th - 5pts: Fonseca 30yr Tawny (bottled 1982)
5th - 4pts: 1969 Domaine Mas Mouriane Maury
6th - 3pts: Buller's Fine Old Malmsey
7th - 2pts: San Leonardo 10yr Tawny
8th - 0pts: 1994 Dow VP
