2005 Domaine Charles Thomas Volnay-Santenots 1er Cru

Post by djewesbury »

I can't find any record of this wine online so I wonder if it was mislabelled in the wine list. Anyone seen it before?

Heavy nose - strong leather and oak, a whiskyish note.

Very dry indeed, medium entry, bony straight away. Slightly powdery or dirty - but with lovely acidity. A little bitter late on, a little vegetal.

I have had a few Charles Thomas wines, a Nuits and something else. They tasted as if they were racked a bit too much, a bit skeletal, but not awful. The Nuits was a single vineyard 1er cru and OK but like you I was a bit underwhelmed.
