NV KWV Cape Tawny

Served onboard SA 235 from LHR T2 to JNB. An orange mahogany colour, 50% opaque. Smelling of toffee and almonds, of warmth and dusty soils. Smooth textured entry but relatively little flavour at first. The fruit comes through on the mid-palate with orange essence, brown sugar and dried figs - mouthfilling and deliciously complex. Good levels of acidity keeps the palate fresh but this is seriously full-bodied once the flavours get into stride. The aftertaste is delicious, full of caramelised oranges and leads to a finish of great length. This would hold its own against some 20 Year Old Tawnies I have drunk. 88/100. 12-Nov-17. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
