1990 Chateau de Beaucastel

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Fabulous nose, really inviting and full of sweet fruit. On the palate the fruit reappears and persists, supported by lovely tannins. Enormous length, full of sweet fruit with the tannins giving a cedar-wood tone to the fruit. 93/100. Drunk 28-Dec-13 at this dinner.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

One of my all time favourites! Beaucastel 1990 has now become just about right starting to drink! Was barely drinkable for a long period of time. With a Steak/meat just fantstic! Leather, a bit of tar and this cedar wood sweet fruit are just seductive. Brilliant stuff!

And even better, the case is still more than half full!

regards

I've only had this wine once at a friend's, and it was superb. Glad to see its showing as well around the world.
