Made by the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite).
Very very slight orange-pinkness around the 50% mid-red core.
Powerful nose at D+1. Very big leather and tobacco and massive spiciness with a great beef note, but not terribly dry: some juiciness in the aroma, very structured but not tight.
Lovely mouth - big plummy entry (a tiny bit uncouth? Rather reminiscent of the blocky entry of rustic fruit wines). Giving way to gentle acids mid palate and a little late dryness. Rather juicy and delicious, very easy to drink and no austerity.
Later the rougher fruitiness had disappeared and a more integrated profile predominated. Fine tannins structure the lovely acid fruits. Great body. Lovely.
