Deep purple but with a large clear rim which somewhat gave the game away - not port, though we were none of us sure what it was. Clear legs, a nose with some fruit forwardness but no tannic harshness. Very chocolatey indeed. A dry, somewhat bitter end. A strange beast all round. I wondered if it was a Californian.
