From the same year as Heidi, Yellow Submarine and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: Aladdin and his magic lamp.

Can you at least give us another clue on the year?

Wouldn't that be a little late for a first film?
He might have been a late developer.

..and I was joking - "go 'ome" >> "phone home" >> E.T. - OK - it wasn't funny.

The Exorcist
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Not Alladin, not Carry on Screaming nor The Exorcist. All of which would have been preferable for a two year old if they had been released.

Very suitable for a two year old, a Russian war drama over three hours long - sadly nope.

I should point out that my brothers, aged three and four at the time, were also there as was my sister, gratuitously aged seven. Just in case you were wondering whether my parents were insane enough to drag a toddler along to any more long-winded dirge.

Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines (they go up diddly up up, they go down diddly down down; up, down, up , down, flying around...)

How do I know the words when I was only 2 when this was released?

Don't know but it is also incorrect. Has anybody checked the Oscar winners, noting that it maybe for a year either side?

No - but close in a similar way to the last closeness.

Hmm... then I'm guessing the last "close" referred to either Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or the Wizard of Oz. Probably the former.

The Great Race?

Close in a different way, but right film to be close, so no then.

Not understanding any of the cryptic clues, I'm going to guess

Oliver

Oliver was 1968 - so no then.

Really big cryptic clue was that I was two years old and I was born in 1963. Could be considered close to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Sound of Music for similar reasons, The Great Race was not close but was close to CCBB for other reasons, possible confusion there. Why would they be considered close? When I mentioned this to a 32 year old student he got it straight away, practically perfect.

Much later - so no, still preferable to the real answer though.

Did I mention checking the Oscars either side of the year? Oh, I did, didn't I? Super...

At Last. The clues being:

Released in 1965 but five Oscars from 1964 - don't know how that works, 1963 + 2 = 1965;
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang being a fantasy musical starring Dick van Dyke, who played Bert;
The Sound of Music being a fantasy musical (ermmm) starring Julie Andrews, who played Mary flippin' Poppins;
"Practically Perfect" from "Practically Perfect in Every Way" - a song from said musical;
"Indubitably" being Bert's pronunciation of "Indisputably";
"Super..." with the ellipsis replacing calafragilisticexpialidocious (sp?) - a song from said musical.

No idea how this one was so difficult.

I hated the frigging thing.
