Derek's New Avatar

Post by DRT »

I now have a new Avatar (look left)

This is my Holy Grail Vintage Port, or HGVP for short. It is from my birth year and only 2 Pipes were produced. One was shipped and one was kept for the Symington family's consumption. I am reliably informed that they have less than 6 bottles left so I can only assume that 1965 has some significance to one or more members of their family.

I have one bottle. The one that this label is on. It is in immaculate condition but will not be drunk unless I find more. This is quite possibly one of the rarest VP's on the planet.

If anyone ever spots one (or 12) of these anywhere please let me know.

Thanks

Derek

Good tale. How many bottles hit the market, if it's just two pipes. They are big buggers, aren't they.

A Pipe is around 700 bottles. But it was 42 years ago so if they have been drunk at a rate of more than 16 per year they will all be gone

It is likely that almost all of them went down someone's throat in the 1980's. All that will be left now will be birthday cases and the odd bottle that has been forgotten in a cellar or, like mine, under someone's Granny's bed!
