2012 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Youthful purple and opaque. Soft and fruity on the nose, with the expected blackcurrant but also a surprise, a softer and less aggressive whitecurrant. Smooth entry with lots of initial blackcurrant. Masses of fruit hiding some fine and ripe tannins. A great fragrance to the palate and huge levels of sharp, focused fruit backed up by lots of sherbert lemon acidity, A great aftertaste with a huge finish of pepper, lemon juice and blackcurrants. Great length. This has nothing like the opulence of the 2011 vintage but has its own great focus and fruit. 93/100. 04-May-16
