1970 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bought from the Boot & Flogger fine wine list. Bottled by Percy Fox & Sons. Mature red appearance, 60% opaque. A wonderful nose of tinned cherries, all spice and cotton dust. Smooth and fruity entry with a lovely palate presence. Lots of cherry fruit with soft tannins and a good acidic backbone, all combining to give a great balance and focus. Big aftertaste with huge dollops of sweet fruit and hints of black chocolate on the edges. Very, very long finish. Another example of a 1970 port that is absolutely fabulous right now. Wonderful, wonderful port. 93/100. 02-Jun-16. Decanted 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
