Wed 23 November

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

So people, Daniel is still busy with more cerebral and worthwhile activities than merely consuming port so there is a real risk that we will not have a Gould Campbell vertical the night before the Port Walk.

Instead of taking the risk that we are all sitting at home, alone and thirsty on Wednesday night, should we arrange an offline? If enough people are interested I will take on the mantle of being the organiser. Volunteers to attend and consume, please step forward.

Place: The Boot & Flogger 10-20 Redcross Way, SE1 1TA
When: 18h30 on Wednesday 23rd November
What: To be decided nearer the date
Who:
  • AHB
  • Flash
  • JDAW;
  • IDJ;
  • CPR;
Suggestions for themes would be welcome, but in the absence of any better themes this will be a "bring a bottle to share with other port lovers" evening.

Current draft of the placemats.

Count me in please. Could we have a bring a blind bottle theme? Seems like ages since we had a blind tasting.

Me please. Sighted preferred to blind, either much much better than being thirsty.

Another quorum has been achieved! I'll contact the B&F and book a room.

Theme to be decided a little later if / when a few more people have responded.

I'm in for this. Any theme is good for me although it's a pity that we can't hold the GC vertical on this night especially if we have the anticipated guest...

I presume that there will not be a guest. If there is, it will be a fluke of timing.

Just looking ahead (but not too far-just over a couple of weeks now) and assume that this tasting is still proceeding? Any suggestions as to the theme?

Unfortunately I have double-booked myself for the evening of 23rd November and will need to drop out of organising / attending the pre-BBR event. Apologies to anyone this inconveniences.

If GLHBD were able to attend, would he be able to adopt from any of the other attendees?

Currently signed up are three of us (JDAW, IDJ, CPR), with T63, Cr60 and Ni77.

Room for a few more, both people and bottles.

Please respond in the thread, not by PM to me.

Somewhat to my own surprise, I am intending to join you on Wed night.
I will have a bottle of G70 (Wine Society bottling) in hand.
And am looking forward to it. :)

Should someone who had double booked himself on Wednesday evening find that he was free around, say, 8pm and with a bottle of port he happened to have in his bag, would he be permitted to join his port chums at the B&F?

Hypothetically speaking, of course.
