Tue 16th August - Is August too hot for port?
I have a meeting on London on Tuesday August 16th.
Is it too hot to drink port in London in August?

A heinous suggestion-Port can be drunk even when there isn't an 'r' in the month

Re: Is August too hot for port?
It's never too hot for port - though I do admit to drinking more white/tawny than vintage during the heat.
However, I currently expect that I am unlikely to be able to join you during Jul/Aug(/Sep).

Re: Is August too hot for port?
Never too hot as long as you are in a room with air conditioning, if so I am in.
Re: Is August too hot for port?
As we have three for Tuesday 16th August it appears we have a quorum.
I have thus booked the green room at the B&F.
Bring a blind bottle to share?

Are we still on for tomorrow?

Yes-I'm still in. It looks like the three of us unless anyone else wants to join us.

Can anyone organise tasting mats? I could print today if they can.

Wilco. But don’t print today — day before always too early.AHB wrote:Can anyone organise tasting mats? I could print today if they can.
I will attend, but will be late.

Everybody’s favourite: total of 9 points, for overall first place.
Most of this bottle was saved and brought to the UK. It can make an appearance at one of our tastings.

I meant, though didn’t say, that this could come in addition to something from Portugal.AHB wrote:Umm. Lovely. Err...

Re: Tue 16th August - Is August too hot for port?
I can probably make this.
CPR 1 - can you please bring along my stranded bottle from your cellar, ideally decanted and ready to roll?
If for whatever reason I do not make it can those in attendance please do what needs to be done with my bottle.

I can't make it, unfortunately.
Re: Tue 16th August - Is August too hot for port?
DRT - Sure will; what time would you like it decanted? First thing or I might be able to do lunch time or on arrival at B&F
Re: Tue 16th August - Is August too hot for port?
I have a Reserva Duas Quintas Douro 2012, for use at a (presumably small) event. Is this the event?

Alex: please update The Boot & Flogger to say that we’ll need some glasses.

I have spoken to B&F this afternoon and confirmed the booking, air con and glasses etc.

Re: Tue 16th August - Is August too hot for port?
Shall bring a bottle from my second most recent purchase. Significant for someone present, but for who or why will be for others to guess, so my bottle will be foil wrapped..
(most recent purchase was a 1921 colheita, which baffled a Scottish auctioneer, and was knocked down to me for a princely £25.. )

Excellent, thank you. I will leave you to do what you think best and is easiest for you.CPR 1 wrote:DRT - Sure will; what time would you like it decanted? First thing or I might be able to do lunch time or on arrival at B&F
I have not yet remembered the thing that I had all but forgotten that was making me doubt whether or not I can make this so I remain optimistic.
