NV Pocas Tawny 40YO (bottled 2015)

A tasting note mostly for Charles. I needed a half bottle of port to last me the weekend before I travelled to the port deserts that are Poland and the Czech Republic.

Deep orange colour, 30% opaque. Gentle nose of basil and dry pine forests, very Mediterranean. Gentle and elegant flavours on entry, but somehow manages to grow thicker in the mid-palate. Soft and floral with a very gentle and elegant flavour profile which produces an amazing aftertaste that runs through a dozen different variances of toffee apple and red cinnamon. Fabulous length finish. This is a lovely, elegant 40 year old tawny with a powerful finish. 89/100. Drunk 07-Oct-16. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
