T63. Bought Sotheby’s auction #5611, 23 November 2005, lot 20 being 9 bottles of T63: £780 hammer; £917.48 invoice. Lovely red, hint cloudy, 50% opaque. Full with lots of red fruit. Heat early palate. Grade-A mature Port.
Slightly muddy in appearance, red/brown colour and notable sediment in glass. Strong flavour, slightly hot, with light sherbet edge. Good, but not great.
Rating: g/vg
Brick red appearance, 60% opaque. A lovely stewed-fruit nose with lots of gentle rhubrb giving a sweet and sour impression - very lively. Cinnamon and mace on the palate, making the mature and slightly leathery fruit much more interesting but there is a fierce heat on the late palate and the aftertaste, but the finish is very fine and slightly chewy with rounded soft toffees and caramel mixed in with the spiced fruits. 90/100. Decanted 4 hours.
