2011 Maynard LBV

Post by Tarne »

Wow! What a heavyweight and a powerful mouthful.

Dark red in colour. Aromatic, stewed plums and mild earthy aromas.

On the palate a mix of dark chocolate, black tea and a hint of pepper, the latter not harsh but reminiscent of a light pepper crust on a juicy steak.

On day's two and three black tea more pronounced and bramble unfolded as the dominant flavour.

Unfiltered with significant residue. A second bottle for later comparison would be great.

I contacted (Oct) Barao De Vilar to identify where I could buy the 2011 in the U K - after several unsuccessful journeys to different A L D I stores I discovered the 2011 is unavailable but the 2012 is now on the shelves.
