1970 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Mature brick red, 60% opaque. Initially reticent on the nose but some time in the glass allowed it to open up a little and reveal gentle toffee and spiced cranberry with a touch of tobacco ash. Gentle and elegant on the palate with ripe fruit that is mature and elegantly spiced. Much softer and less robust than the Graham 1970 shown alongside - gentle, soft and elegant in a very pleasant manner. 92/100. Drunk 27-Sep-16. Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
