1975 Dalva Colheita (bottled 2014)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Drunk at Quevedo's Quinta Santa Rosario with Oscar and Claudia Quevedo and Christian Gollnick. Bottled 2014. Darker in tone than the Quevedo 1974 colheita shown alongside. Deep honey brown with a green rim (which Claudia said indicated that white grapes had been used in the blend); 50% opaque. Surprisingly closed on the nose, showing almost nothing. Little on the palate on entry other than a touch of wood ash. Some air on the mid-palate releases a bit of acidity and some citrus flavours but this is very slow and reluctant to reveal anything. The aftertaste is pleasant enough and delivers a long finish full of sticky honey. 87/100. Drunk 28-Sep-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
