1955 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled by Berry Brothers. Bronzed mahogany in colour, 90% opaque. A gentle nose of spiced fruit, cool and slightly jellied - all sounding more mundane than the delicious smells spreading from the glass. Mature fruit on entry with maraschino cherries and massive tobacco spice combining to give a palate with lots of life and vigour. Tobacco and marmalade lead on the finish, lingering and very long lasting with an intense orange reduction at the end. This is a sweet, powerful and intense port. A great bottle. 95/100. Drunk 29-Sep-16. Decanted 4 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
