2009 Taylor

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very dark red, opaque centre and a narrow rim. Wonderful fruit on the nose; sweet, ripe and opulent in complete contrast to when I last tried this two years ago. A lovely texture on entry with dense black cherry fruit and huge tannins. The tannins slowly relax to allow the luxurious fruit to ooze over the palate. A bright aftertaste in contrast to the density of the palate, dominated by the tannins and fruit led aftertaste and a big finish. Tasty, but without as much power and impact of the '92. 91/100.

Drunk at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 24 Nov 2016.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
