2004 Croft LBV
Bottled 2009. Decanted off a surprising amount of sludgy sediment. Dark cherry red in colour, with a hint of bricking at the rim. Sour cherries on the nose a slight touch of bottle stink. Assertive, slightly aggressive entry, with generous acidity and a chalky texture from the fine-grained tannins. There is plenty of sour cherry fruit but the overall impression is of a dry port that is slightly dirty. Pleasant enough with a warming aftertaste and a finish of cherry stones and lots of heat. 84/100. Drunk 22-Jan-17. Decanted 1 hour.
