Tue 30th October 2018

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

We appear to have nothing in the diary now until our Offley vertical on 11th December. Is this too long to go without drinking Port?

"Of course not!" I hear you cry. "We're all abstaining until Christmas."

Well I'm not! Work brings me to London on Tuesday 30th October and I plan to stay a little after hours at our favourite place. Is anyone else going to be around and likely to be thirsty?

Theme: Mature Single Quinta (or Second Label) Ports (mature defined as >20 years since the vintage)
Place: Boot & Flogger — in the Red Room so space for 14 people
Time: 18.30
Date: Tuesday 30th October
Who:
  1. AHB
  2. JDAW
  3. DRT
  4. CMAG
  5. DRL
  6. WS
  7. IDJ
  8. TC
  9. TS

Draft of the placemats.

As this is looking like a small gathering should we perhaps consider having it at The Tappit Hen, which opens on the previous evening?

I might pop by if there is space to squeeze me in. On the 30th I should be back from Burgundy and Austria picking up and tasting wine. I feel some mature port would do me good.....😀😀😀😀😀

I have a room booked for 8 people - but I'm not certain whether this is the Green Room or the upstairs private room (or, indeed, a table in the ovens or elsewhere).

If more than 8 people want to attend I will start a waiting list and enquire whether the green room is available.

We have the Red Room so can accommodate 14 people if anyone else wants to come along or bring a guest.

I have a favour to ask. Earlier this week I discovered that I have never tasted the Graham 1997. If anyone coming on the 30th has a bottle that they could bring, I would be most grateful...but please declare you are doing so as we wouldn't want to be drinking 7 bottles of G97 and a bottle of GM04!

Thank you all.

2018−2004 ≱ 20.

I have a good 2001 single-quinta to hand. Would that be allowed?

Mike out, Tony in.

I'm also bringing a guest who (I think) has been once before. TS, right handed.

Julian - would you be kind enough to make the placemats and I will print them on Monday.

My plans have changed slightly and it will now be difficult for me to print the placemats. Is anyone else able to?

I was also reminded on Friday that I haven’t organised a food order. If anyone would like something other than their default food order, please say so before 2pm on Monday.
