Brownish red color with a small orange sherbet rim. Another tight nose. For the youngest of the bunch its aging compares as accelerated. Light strawberry with a long yet uneventful finish. Overall OK. 89 points

Vesuvio 1997's nose some of the smokey interest of its 91 uncle, but in the mouth it switches nicely to pepper and cherries. It's still pretty tightly wound, and that makes for a harsher flavor. Has the Vesuvio "bite." Overall it's just too young, could use at least another 5 years. 92.
