As I neither keep elephants (or eat liver & Chianti..) - nor punish pianos; you might note that the H is a the name of a monarch of which we have had several, but none recently; and the R is one of the few main characters in Macbeth to survive to the end of the play. 88)

In a thread entitled Port acronyms, dated Thu 30 Oct 2008, jdaw1 wrote:This thread is to hold port acronyms. But please gather them together in sets, related somehow ideally humorously. Think of it as a game.

I’ll start.
Newbies should also be aware that some of KillerB’s acronyms above are a little light on accuracy.

I propose that these threads be merged into the older, this line then being deleted.

Oh yes, and on the subject of spelling, it is Marilyn Monroe not Marylin Munroe.

Shouldn't that be Derek Rabbie Turnbull? Climber of multiple Monros (when the weather is nice)?

Just realised that Ben's middle names are 'Michael Howard' - I always thought that there was something of the night about him.

NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo - my father is Nigel Powers, here's proof:

I've thrown a few more legitimate ones in. Mostly due to seeing the constant use of abbreviations like F85, which we know is Fonseca 1985 but some poor unsuspecting newcomer could be just baffled. I've shown that as Fnn. Please make suggestions for any others like that that we use on a regular basis.

I have changed the confusing ‟Frnn” to ‟FrYY”, and likewise for other houses. If so minded you might wish to add NYY and NNYY, as well as CYY, CrYY, SYY, VYY, SWYY, GCYY, and QHYY.

Please be careful about using your admin rights to moderate posts in such a way. A suggestion should have been made and I would probably have agreed with you and changed it myself. I don't like the changing the colour so I've changed it back but I've left the YYs as they make sense. I've also put your suggestions in.

Apparently, this was meant to be Edward rather than Ethelred. How was I supposed to know that? Surname updated as well.

After a mild disagreement over this topic, it seems appropriate to move it to the top and allow admins to update it. It's changed from a whimsical muckabout to something of use. Please feel free to add suggestions and any of us will add at our pleasure. My alter-ego promises not to get too precious about it.
