1999 Fonseca Guimaraens Panascal

Post by nac »

Presented for "Another Virtual Tasting" on 7th April 2020.

Decanted at 0630 and commenced drinking at 1930.

70% ruby red core. Lots of primary fruit on nose, plus spice and a pronounced menthol. Interesting in the mouth - less fruit, more spice and mint coming through. Alcohol slightly out of balance - decidedly hot. Long, but primarily alcohol burn.

The sample tasted quickly as 0630 was better, so maybe a shorter decant needed. OK, but need to try it again (soon-ish).

Purchased from Laithwaites, Feb 2020, £25/bottle.
