1983 Grahams Vintage Port

Post by g-man »

Dark ruby color.

Popped immediately at restaurant. (Paid WAY too much but in the company of very close friends, so bit the bullet).

Nose of red currants and minty anise (licorice?)

Tastes of a spicy cherry tussin, mouth coating, but hot. Very nice sweetness throat feel and finish that I'm starting to pick up from the Grahams.

89pts. with clear room for age and improvement with decanting and age. This feels like a port that can easily go 10 years.

94 pts I'm thinking at it's peak when the alcohol mellows out with the spicy cherry tussin.

It's a shame that you had to pop 'n' pour this port. In my experience, it is a monster and really rewards extended decanting when being drunk in its very early prime. I try to give it at least 8 hours if I can.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
