2000 Andresen LBV (unfiltered)

Post by Rubby »

Bottled in 2006.

decant +1:
Small amount of sediment, as fine as dust. Opaque dark red. Remarkable sour nose of lime, blackberries, gooseberries. Medium sweet taste of blackberries, cherries, redcurrant with a hint of banana.
Reasonable long aftertaste.
decant +2:
Nose opening up more, with the initial sourness slowly blowing off. Plum and prune added to the nose and palette. Some raisin.
Slightly mineral aftertaste. Small amount of tannins.
decant +3:
Coffee comming into the nose, while the sourness has completely vanished!
What a nice port! The palette has gained in richness with a slight hint of orange and grenadine. Still medium sweet but has developped a longer aftertaste. Tannins are a bit more prominent, but still subtle.

decant +15:
Lovely rich and well ballanced palette. Blueberries and strawberries added. Ideal decanting time?
decant +20:
Still going strong with a hint of apple thrown into the palette. It's getting a bit sweeter. Aftertaste is still lengthening.
It's a shame I won't be able to see whether it will continue to develop, because this bottle is gone. Lovely LBV!

This LBV might improve slightly over the next few years, but is already a lovely medium sweet port with a rich palette. Allow at least 12-15 hours of decanting time.
