The first of a few bottles purchased from the lovely people at VWP. Perfect cork, clearly marked "Recorked 2018", and very heavy sediment.
Popped, double decanted, poured...
80%+ opaque, dark core with some browning at rim.
Possibly a light cooked dark fruit on the nose, but mainly development notes - spice, leather, tobacco.
In the mouth, still quite tannic and similar notes to the nose. Balance a bit off but still quite pleasant for a Monday evening.
OK, drink soon-ish. 4+pts out of 7.
1999 Sandeman Vau
Re: 1999 Sandeman Vau
Vac-u-Vined and finished over a few days.
Last glass at +120 hours and now definitely starting to fall apart. The decline over five days has been fairly graceful.
This is a nice, drinking now VP, and reasonable value at sub 30 quid a bottle.
My recommendation would be to finish any bottles within the next five-ish years, and once open not to keep for more than a day or so.
