1985 Warre
A half bottle of Warre 1985 from my own cellar. Popped and poured. A lovely mature Ruby red, 60% opaque. Dried strawberries on the nose, slightly jammy with a lively cinnamon drop scent. Dry strawberry on the palate, cedar and birch wood on the mid palate with a little VA coming through on the late palate. The VA gives a big acidic kick to the aftertaste and a long purple fruit drop finish. Not showing the way Warre 1985 should show, but drinkable. 79/100. Drunk 25-Aug-22.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
