1970 Rebello Valente

Post by bman »

Very light, in colour and body, almost like a beaujolais or valpolicella - you can see right through it in the glass. Nicely pale-pink halo around the rim in the glass.

Medium-sweet and quite alcoholic, even after several hours in the decanter. Raspberry, bitter orange, quince, cinnamon, with some matchstick on the finish.

Completely different from any other port I've had, including others fully mature from this vintage and earlier ones. Tasted by 8 of us, everyone else liked it more than did I.

I score it 87 points.
